Laila has undergone extensive advanced mediation training at Harvard Law School, JAMS (San Francisco), Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University, Stanford Law School and the Bangalore Mediation Centre. She was awarded the Weinstein Fellowship, a prestigious international fellowship for ADR professionals (2011). As a Weinstein Fellow she spent a semester as a Visiting Scholar at the Gould Institute for Conflict Resolution, Stanford Law School.
Laila has been an advocate for over 25 years in the High Court of Karnataka and Supreme Court of India. She has mediated several cases involving property disputes, contracts, matrimonial and family disputes, corporate and commercial disputes and other disputes with a very high rate of settlement. She has also co-mediated high profile cases with retired Supreme Court Judges. Laila regularly trains Judges (of the High Court and District Courts) and lawyers, nationally and internationally to become Mediators. She also conducts “Train the Trainers” workshops for The Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court.
Judge High Court of Karnataka (Retd.,)
Prior to his elevation to the High Court in 2008, he was the first Director of the Bangalore Mediation Centre (BMC), As a High Court Judge, he continued this association as a Member of the Board of Governors of BMC.
He is a trained and experienced Mediator. He was selected as a Member of the Study Team to study Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), ADR Mechanisms and Mediation, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2006. Since his retirement, he has been serving as an Arbitrator and Mediator. He has successfully used his Mediation skills while facilitating parties in finding mutually acceptable settlements, sometimes even in Arbitration proceedings.
Justice Keshavnarayan practiced Civil Law in the Original and Appellate Courts at Bangalore for over 15 years before being appointed as a District and Sessions Judge in February 1993. He served as the Principal Judge of the City Civil Court.
